"I do films for myself, out of true love and necessity. This is why I never know if I’ll be able to do another film. I might lose the urge one day."

Site Information
Since December 2003 This site is an official Asia Argento website. However, I'm not Asia Argento herself. Do not send fanmail because Asia won't receive it. I am not receiving any financial gain from the website. No copyright infringement intended. Special thanks goes out to my three special collaborators and contributors: Audrey (from France), Beatrice (from Italy) and Stef. |
Rising Star - September 2002By Jennifer L. Smith
Asia Argento makes it easy to feel like an underachiever. At age 26, the Italian-born actress has appeared in 30 films, directed three others, published three books and sings in two French bands. Considering how she's fearlessly tacked so many endeavors, Asia (pronounced "Ah-zee-ah") is surprisingly cautious, about her first major foray into US films with xXx (August 9). "Coming to America is like starting over, which is great," she says on the phone from Rome. "But I don't want to end up like so many European actors who tried to make it in the States and it didn't work out." As Yelena, a mysterious criminal out to give Vin Diesel ("a real actor, a real inspiration," she says) a tough time. Asia makes good on her promising international start. And getting to play the bad girl was not only a blast, it was therapeutic as well. "Most people see a shrink," she says. "I get to explore my dark side through cinema and be a good girl in life."
